Fellow of Innovation Strategy
Dr. Robert S. Bauer (Bob) is Chief Strategy Officer at Savioke, creating easy-to-use yet sophisticated, autonomous robots that help people. The RELAY mobile delivery robot service has made over 150,000 deliveries, revolutionizing the way things move in hotels, hospitals, logistics 'single-piece-flow'… anywhere people sleep, eat, care for their health, or work. Bob is responsible for developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining corporate strategic initiatives. Bob's robotics efforts began in 2010 at Willow Garage and Suitable Technologies, where he led personal robotics commercialization. Eight companies spun out of Willow (Google subsequently purchased three), and 48 PR2 mobile manipulation robotic platforms were sold to 43 institutions in 17 countries; Beam telepresence robots were expanded into events and fine arts markets, used regularly by wounded warriors and persons with disabilities, and sold through partners in Europe, the Middle East, and China. Bob also currently serves as Fellow of Innovation Strategy at Speck Design, a FutureBrand company.
Bob joined Xerox's famed Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) in its inaugural year. He led the System Sciences Laboratory and created PARC's Advanced Systems Development lab, as well as managing Xerox Corporate R&T investment and IP in software and systems. Bob is the former VP and founding CTO of Xerox Global Services from 2002-06. In 2006 he became CTO of H5, a San Francisco start-up that Bob guided to become the NIST-certified leader in High Recall search.
