The distillery is sited within a historic grain mill in the center of rural Minden, Nevada. Originally raised in 1906, the building was composed of a brick shell and immense timber framing. We were inspired to expose the grandeur of this majestic construction within, while providing a modern system for distilling and tasting the single batch scotch whiskey intended as the brand’s namesake. The hybridization of the historic material character with contemporary construction and forms breathes new life into a landmark that had fallen into disarray. Throughout, the design is charged with a sense of connection between the patron, the spirit, and the process in which it was created.
