Partnering with Topcon, a pioneer in positioning and diagnostic technologies, Speck Design embarked on developing a series of products for the semi-autonomous agricultural division. This project encompassed the AES-25 steering wheel, the X35 17” in-cab display, and the AGS-2 GNSS antenna and receiver, revolutionizing remote control farming practices.
Our electrical engineering efforts were crucial in crafting devices that not only met the rugged demands of agricultural use but also seamlessly integrated with Topcon's existing product ecosystem. By focusing on durability and water resistance, we ensured that each component could withstand the challenges of field environments without compromising functionality.
The mechanical engineering phase was pivotal in creating end-user parts that were both robust and consistent with Topcon's design language. Our designs emphasized usability and aesthetic integration, ensuring that each component was not only rugged enough for field use but also visually aligned with the Topcon family of products.
In tackling the industrial design aspect, our goal was to meld aesthetic consistency with functional durability. The design of each product component respected Topcon's established visual identity, while adaptations were made to ensure that usability was optimized for the specific needs of semi-autonomous agricultural operations.
The UX design challenge centered on creating an interface that was intuitive and straightforward, facilitating quick interactions and accurate machine tracking. Our approach streamlined the user control process, providing farmers with a reliable tool for precise crop planting and management, setting a new industry standard for semi-autonomous agricultural technology.
